TaskPortal launches Version 3.2 and a new Pricing Model
(21 Sep 2005)
Version 3.2 of TaskPortal Host and TaskPortal Enterprise has been released as well as a new product roadmap concentrating on security, privacy and multilingual user interface introduced with version 4.0 already on the drawing board.
Version 3.2 Released:
Version 3.2 highlights include a new web address (https://my.taskportal.com) that will now enable secure, encrypted data transfer across the entire system ensuring clients' maximum privacy and data protection.
Other enhancements introduced with this version are:
- Enhanced Personalisation
- Each individual user can now personalize how TaskPortal will behave after publishing a new task or a new reply. When posting a new task or a reply the user can now set TaskPortal to either:
- Show me the Task I just worked on
- Take me to the Home Page
- Take me to My Tasks view
- Show me all Tasks with Unread Notifications
- Show me all Tasks that require my Action
- Enhanced Project File Libraries and introduced new Task File Libraries
- Existing Project File Libraries have been enhanced to feature optional file descriptions captured with each file.
- A new unified view of all files attached to a particular task has been created and labeled as Task File Libraries. Users can now access Task File Libraries by clicking on the attachments icon next to the title of the tasks on the home page.
- Improved View of Communication Posts within a Task
- The view of information within task posts has been enhanced by introducing a new icon which clearly illustrates which posts you have been notified on and which posts were notified to others and not yourself. View of all file attachments within a post has also been enhanced to include optional file description text that can be captured by the user when attaching a file to the post.
- Better Task Print View
- By default most browsers will not print background colors and this has resulted in poor looking task view printouts were clear divisions between project information and posts was lost. This has been corrected with version 3.2.
- Enhanced Gantt Chart View
- This view of tasks has also been enhanced to allow users to sort tasks by each column/field within this view.
- "Status" Versus "% Completed" Check
- New collaboration logic has been introduced to further ensure correct project and task information captured by users. When creating a new task or posting a reply a check is made to see if the "% Completed" as well as the "Status" information is in synch, that is, does the information set in those fields make logical sense. It is illogical to have a task set to overdue or in progress while the percent completed is set to 100% as it is also illogical to have the task status set to completed while the percent completed is still showing that only 50% of work has been done. The new checks ensure that the information is checked by the system before the information is saved and the user is notified if changes to the information need to be made before publishing the task.
- Support for Mozilla Firefox Browser
- TaskPortal can now be used with the new popular browser from Mozilla. This adds another browser to the list of already supported platforms and browsers covering both Windows based and Macintosh based browsers.
New Pricing Structure and Priority Support Service:
The new version also brings with it a new pricing structure for both TaskPortal Host accounts as well as Enterprise product sales. The new pricing structure makes TaskPortal Host by far more attractive as it's offering on disk space, maintenance & support contracts, all feature sets as well as no restrictions on the number of projects and tasks has now been applied across all host accounts.
Clients now have the option of using TaskPortal Host's rich feature set independently of the number of users licenses purchased and the more user licenses purchased the cheaper the cost per user becomes.
For both TaskPortal Host and TaskPortal Enterprise customers can now benefit from redefined Priority Support Services included in the price. Priority Support contributes to a comfortable and incrementally beneficial utilization of the collaboration environment. The targeted response time is less then 8 hours from case submission by the user. TaskPortal Host users will have the added benefit of gradually obtaining access to a new embedded support system to experience qualified assistance on TaskPortal collaboration related issues.

TaskPortal Version 3.1 is released
(3 Nov 2004)
TaskPortal Enterprise and Hosted Version 3.1 has now been released incorporating minor but important usability enhancements.

Other enhancements concentrate on administration modules. System administrators (or users with equivalent access rights for each module) can now send automated email reminders containing user login information to each individual user of the system. When creating a new user, automatic email invitation can also be send to the user listing all required login information as well as any additional information that you may want to add.
All modules within the administration section have been enhanced to clearly separate active and archived information, by splitting each list into two separate views.
Enhanced screens for creation and editing of existing records within administration modules has also been incorporated, including a quick view of all existing records within each list while creating a new entry.
